What the current articles establish
Tool guides explain a documented product category and propose a workflow. Comparison articles provide decision criteria and repeatable test ideas. They are not scored reviews or reports of hands-on benchmarks. Founder profiles use public sources and editorial analysis; they are not interviews.
News articles cover a dated source and distinguish reported claims from interpretation. Learning articles use technical references and illustrative examples. Read each page’s source notes before treating an example as evidence of product performance.
What a hands-on comparison must report
Before calling a future article a test or benchmark, actually execute the work and preserve the evidence. State the date, model or product version, plan, tools, relevant settings and environment. Describe the task, inputs and acceptance criteria so another person can understand the conditions.
Use equivalent information across candidates and include representative failures, not only the best output. Record attempts, corrections and review effort. Distinguish factual accuracy from preferences about style, and avoid a universal winner when the evidence supports only a narrower conclusion.
Measure the complete task
A coding test should inspect the patch and resulting behaviour. A research test should verify claims against original sources. A meeting-tool test should distinguish transcription errors from errors in summarising decisions. A creative-tool test should include consistency, revision and the final production format.
Report useful completion, latency and operating cost in the context of an explicit quality threshold. Include retries and human correction where relevant. Do not treat product popularity, funding or a founder’s reputation as a substitute for these observations.
Build evaluations with meaningful exceptions
Include missing information, conflicting evidence and inputs outside the intended scope. For agents, also test tool failures, duplicate requests and the boundaries around consequential actions. For multilingual tasks, use competent reviewers and natural examples rather than only literal translations.
Keep evaluation examples separate from any examples used to develop or tune the system where the test requires that distinction. Explain sample limits and uncertainty. An evaluation provides evidence under its stated conditions, not certification for every use.
Maintain the evidence
Preserve original dates and identify the version behind a conclusion. Retest when a meaningful product, task or configuration change could alter the result. If an article is refreshed only with background context, do not imply a new product test occurred.
Readers can request clarification or submit contradictory evidence using Send a correction on the article. Useful feedback identifies the exact claim, relevant conditions and original source.
